The Sanctuary History

The history of the Sanctuary has its roots in the time of apparitions, which took place in 1943-1949. It was not any church in Siekierki region during second world war and before. Citizens wanted to found a church, but soon second world war started and it became impossible. Children prayed under the Cross. One of those young persons was 12 years old -Władysława Papis (maiden name: Fronczek-Frauczuk). When she returned home from the cross, she still continued to pray and in one moment she noticed that on the cherry-tree appeared the Holy Mother. She prayed further. The Holy Mother looked at her and waited. Władysława felt that she forgot somebody in her prayers. In one moment she started to pray for her uncle who was very sick, she asked for his health. The Holy Mother waited. Władysława understood that her prayer is not finished. In one moment she said:“ I ask for health of my uncle, but if he does not become healthy, please take him into Heaven, to You, Dear Mother”. In this moment the Holy Mother turned round 3 times in the right side, and disappeared. It took place on 3rd May 1943 during the Holy Mother – the Queen of Poland Holiday. The Lord Jesus Christ appeared first time on 28th June 1943 on this place.
Last apparition was on 15th September 1949 during the Our Lady of Sorrows Holiday. The Lord Jesus said: “I came to you to tell you that I am with you. I am leaving now, but you ask My Mother, as She listens you now”.
During apparitions the Holy Mother dictated the Litany and the Chaplet and a song. Both the Our Lady and the Lord Jesus left many messages for believers. One of them is that the Holy Mother appeared as a Teacher of Young Persons.
First Chapel on the place of apparitions was built in 1945-1946. The Chapel was opened on 3rd May 1946 during the Holy Mother – the Queen of Poland Holiday.
The Chapel was extended 3 times: in 1979, 1980 and 1981. After that the new chapel was built – as a votive offering for healing from alcohol illness. Current Chapel was sacred by Primate Józef Glemp on 29th August 1999.
First Holy Mass was said on 3rd May 1977 and after that the Holy Masses were said especially during Holidays.
The priest Primate Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński entrusted the place of apparitions to the Piarist Order on 16th November 1980. After His death, Cardinal Józef Glemp consecrated the square on which the church would be built. Bishop Zbigniew Kraszewski embedded the corner stone of the church and consecrated the lower church on 22nd October 1988.
The Parish Church under the invocation of the Holy Virgin Mary – the Queen of Believers was established on 15th March 1988. The church was sacred by Cardinal Primate Józef Glemp on 17th September 1994.
The Diocese Sanctuary under the invocation of the Holy Mother – the Teacher of Young Persons was established by Priest Primate Józef Glemp on 31st August 1997.

The Divine Services History

1. Day vigil on 3rd day of every month. The vigil takes place regularly since 1995, but it has its origin during the time of apparitions. Since 3rd May 1943 the school children came at 12.00 to pray Angelus prayer. The Holy Mother asked them to pray for the reformation of sinners. On 31st August 1943, one year before the Warsaw Insurrection, the Holy Mother said: “Pray, as a big punishment goes, heavy cross. I can not stop My Son’s anger, as the nation does not convert itself. Kneel everyday since 12.00 to 15.00, by the 6 August and ask for conciliation for sins of the whole world (ask for mercy for the whole world)”.
2. Day vigil on 28th day of every month. The vigil takes place regularly since 1997. It has its origin during the time of apparitions. The Lord Jesus said about His great love to people. “Do not walk indifferently next to churches. I am waiting for you in the Holy Sacrament. I can ease in every suffering, I can console every dejected heart, if the heart turns to me with the trust and confidence”. (on 26th September 1943). “I am waiting for you, hidden in the tabernacle. Kneel in the front of the altar and ask”. (on 19th January 1944). “I am crossed by all those who insult Me. Make amends for them”. (on 8th September 1949). “Ask My Holy Mother, She listens you now”. (on 15th September 1949).
3. Night vigil, in the Saturday before 3rd Sunday of every month. It takes place regularly since July 1982. It has its origin during the time of apparitions. First night vigils were in October 1943 and in April 1944. Such vigil lasted 3 nights, night by night. Then the Holy Mother asked to pray during the whole first Fridays. 24 persons chose the hours and prayed at home in reparations for sins of the whole world. Father Edward Szajor, Piarist decided that night vigils would take place on Saturdays before 3rd Sunday – by analogy to 3rd May, as the Holy Mother appeared on 3rd May 1943.
